GeForce Windows 10 Driver - It worked well for me cause at first I could not upgrade my PC from Win7 to Win10 following an issue with my Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT graphic card.

Windows 10 keeps installing an old driver for my Nvidia 8800 GTS display adapter. The Nvidia Experience application is running on my machine and notifies me when a new driver is available. The latest non-beta driver available from Nvidia is version 341. After installing this latest driver, the next time Windows Update checks for updates it installs the old 341. This problem is very serious since security fixes for the driver will be replaced by an older vulnerable driver, exposing customers to unnecessary security risks. Please advise on how to stop Windows Update from installing device drivers for my hardware. Hello, Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 family. I would be happy to assist you. From the description provided, I understand that you want to b lock automatic reinstall of a driver or update from Windows Update. Please be informed that a troubleshooter is now available that provides a user interface for hiding and showing Windows Updates and drivers for Windows 10. Or run the troubleshooter directly by clicking. Follow the instructions within the troubleshooter, and then select to hide the problematic driver or update. Hope the above information was helpful. I now have the latest driver installed from Nvidia and have hidden the old one from Windows Update. Please fix Windows 10 so that the Device Installation Settings actually work. It's likely that Windows Update will lag behind a manufacturers driver version for varying amounts of time and can result in this problem occurring frequently. It would be better for users to have more control over which updates are applied their machines. Taking corrective action once the problem has occurred is far more painful than taking the time to prevent the issue in the first place. This is one of several significant issues that has me considering rolling back to Windows 7 where the issues don't exist.

Currently, NVIDIA is supporting large majority of modern gamers with up-to-date releases of both Windows XP driver package and driver package that is intended for Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. The NVIDIA driver for my ASUS notebook also mention that and works fine. Had to run the manual upgrade via USB drive. Somewhere on the Internet I found the trick to download the win10-iso directly with Firefox in XP-COMPATIBILITY mode. After Windows 10 installed, installed the 309. Screen flickers sometimes during start up. Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. At the ready to install page make sure the install windows and keep personal files and apps are selected. Video card is GeForce 9600M GT and that is ON SUPPORTED list, but after upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 was installed Microsoft generic driver and is not possible install official latest drivers for Windows 10 from nvidia. Thanks for your information. Thank you very much, I almost had given up installing Win10 on my Dell XPS M1710 until I found your post. I had the problem of not being able to select these settings and it turned out I did not have the latest ISO version for my version of windows 10.
